Emotional Freedom Technique

The famous tapping used on quite a few phobia busting tv shows

This quote by Eric Robins, MD captures the essence of EFT:

"Some day the medical profession will wake up and realize that unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses. When they do, EFT will be one of their primary healing tools .... as it is for me."

I actually discovered EFT at a meridian training on a course ran by the EICH in London's Regents Park. In just one training session it managed to alleviate a driving problem I had at the time and since then it has been yet another tool in my therapists toolbox.

The founder of EFT is a lovely American guy called Gary Graig and there is link to his excellent and informative site on the links page (from which I borrowed the information below but I'm sure he won't mind).

EFT is based on a new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles aren't necessary. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere. It launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which says...

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

The way I use EFT is based on the short method which uses just 5 tapping points on the face. The big difference with EFT is that it uses the negative phrase

  • i.e. even though I have this problem with ..........
  • I deeply and completely accept myself.

What continues to amaze me is the amount of people who have reservations about accepting themselves.

The good news is, not for long.
